Busy Week End

We have had one busy week end. Friday night Barbecue at Barbs Brother DeWayne & Barb's house.
Saturday we went with DeWayne and Barb to a "Bodies Human Exhibit of Real Human Bodies" A real sience lesson of all the parts that make up the human bodies they are preserved it is a Asian exhibit that travels around the US.

Sunday afternoon Barb and Diselle (Barb's sister) visited Judy our cousin that Barb had not seen since 6th grade (that is a long time ago) but we had fun catching up on the past and present.
This is the church that was located next to the farm where Barb grew up. Barb went to Sunday School at this church from the age of 6 to 17. Barb could walk to this church.
This church just celebrated it's 125 anniversary this year. It is very well preserved.
This is Friday night at Barb's brother DeWayne and wife Barb's house we have just shucked fresh corn on the cob for dinner. The bees wouldn't leave us alone so we had to go in side.

Tomorrow Labor Day we will be back on the road again heading for Minnesota.

Back on the Road Again

We now have arrived in SD:
In the eastern area where we were is mostly farming and some livestock and dairy farms. Crops consist of corn, soy beans, hay, some grain.

Thursday evening! We left ND at 9:30 am and traveled to SD. We will be here for three days visiting Barb's family. We got parked and toured the big town of Brookings and now are ready to relax and go to bed early. We played cards tell 12:30 every night that we were in ND. so it will feel good to turn in early tonight.

Friday Afternoon! Talked to DeWayne (Barbs brother) who lives in the town of Brookings where we are parked.

Today we traveled to Lake Preston Barb's town where she went to schhol and lived her senior year of high school looks the same as last year. Took some flowers to Barb's mom's grave at the cemetary! Back to Brookings where we are staying and ate at NICKS Hamburger place, Steve and Teresa know where that is but it was much different this time it was in a mobil food trailer like you see at the fair. The reason for this the main street of Brookings is all under construction and Nicks regular little restaurant is under remodel. You have to go into the stores of Brookings thru the ally.

Barb did laundry this afternoon and Jerry washed the Jeep now we are resting getting ready to go to Barb's brother's for a barbecue tonight. Wow what a life we have to live. Barb's T- shirts say it all "Life Is Good!

Last Day in ND

Tomorrow 8/28 we will be leaving the family in ND they don't seem so sad to see us leave as the family in WA haha. We had a good time today we had noon meal with Jerry's cousin Patty and his other cousin Ruben Jr who is manager of the bank in Fessenden.

I have been winning at a card game we play with Jerry's aunt and uncle. I will have more laundry quarters for the trip so guess I made money in ND. haha

We had a lighting and thunder storm last night and some rain so today it is only about 68 degrees. We had high winds all day yesterday tell the rain storm then it has been calm. Yesterday we would have not been able to be on the road with the motorhome.

Next posting we will be from SD.

Monday August 25th Back On The Farm

North Dakota is almost all farm land very little livestock raising. The crops mostly consist of corn, wheat, barley, cranola, beans, sunflowers.
Arrived at Jerry's Aunt and Uncles Sunday afternoon. The chickens are wondering if this is going to be a safe place to be. Weather here is about 80 so not to bad and of course the wind is blowing.
Last night we went to a tasty freeze for dinner and then Elaine had a great dessert made so had dessert and then started playing this Rummy card game played two games and went to bed at 12:30 but of course that is 10:30 our time. Barb was the big winner come out 50 cents ahead. It will help with the gas unless I loose tonight when we play. Speaking of gas we filled up in Bismark and it was only 3.99 we almost thought we were at the wrong pump. They even have Diesel Premium for that price. Oh well good for us.
Today just been visiting and sharing pictures and went into the big town of Fessenden took us less than a 1/2 hour to drive through the whole town. Lot of places tore down since we were here last year.
Thats all for today. Love to all.

Day Two of our Journey & Barb's Big Day

I drove Big Bertha today oops guess I am to call it THE COACH. Well Jerry has been telling me if you want to drive let me know. When we stopped at a rest stop to have lunch the sign said 40 miles to the next rest stop. So I said to myself this would be a good time to do it. I got on the freeway and off the freeway just fine and drove it 60 to 65 miles per hour. Not bad but I haven't pulled into a fueling station or parked in a park yet so those would be my next challenge. Fuel stations in a truck stop would be fine. Well my elbows and knees were pretty tight when I finished my test drive. I am not sure how Jerry's nerves were but at least at one point he put his feet up so figured he was relaxing a little bit.
Well we are in Dickensen ND tonight. Tomorrow we will get to Jerry's aunt and uncles by early afternoon.
All is well and so far the trip has been real good. Oh yes and fuel is 4.25 per gallon we could hardly believe it both yesterday and today when we filled up. We even seen it for 4.19 and 4.21 maybe be time we get to the east coast it will be almost free haha. Good for us. We will take all the savings we can get.
By for now from the Watland's

Day One of our Journey to the East Coast

August 22nd.
Well I am keeping my promise. We left Manson at 8:15 this morning. We are now in Anaconda and if you don't know where that is it is 100 miles east of Missoula. It was a great traveling day not hot, no rain so perfect.

We were lucky to find a spot at this nice RV Park. We found it in our Passport America book. We are signed up with three different RV membership plans which give discounted rates so we figured we should be able to find some place to stay. Very nice park. But being a week end you never know.

Ark and Saw are put to bed and I think we will be doing the same here very shortly. It is chilly since the sun went down so the chickens will be pretty cold in the morning sleeping in the Jeep. They will be fine they have feathers. It will probably be us that will be cold. Feels like fall.

Well until next time by for now. Barb

On The Road To The East Coast

Oh my gosh looks who is in the drivers seat. I hope they don't plan on driving but then they probably heard we are going to be closer to Arkansas than they have ever been before so are worried. I think I best learn how to drive this rig so I can be sitting in that seat.

Yes we are heading out and be on the road for about two months. In fact today we got all our to do list done so we decided we will head out a day earlier than planned. Guess the relatives will have to put up with us a day earlier then we told them.

It feels like fall here in Chelan today windy and chilly partly coudy at times also. Jerry has checked the weather through the Dakota's for the next 15 days and looks like we might run into some rain along the way. Oh well we are from WA so are used to a few rainy days.

Well I promise I will keep this up daily that is if Jerry will stop at camp grounds where we have electricity and not at WALL MARTS parking lots like he has been threatening me with so he can save money. Of course he is doing that because Kim & Teresa told him you better be stopping where your safe and not at Wall Marts or Rest Stops where it could be unsafe these days. You need to be where you are safe and have security. I am so glad I have children that care enough and worry about us. Love you kids and miss you kids already.

So tell next time love to all.

Good Buys And On The Road Again

On Sunday Aug 17th :

As you can see by the above pictures we had a good buy day with the childrens, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Yes, it was a sad day because we are leaving for our big trip. We are leaving a couple months early this year so the childrens are having a hard time with us leaving so soon. At times I even get a bit upset inside thinking we are going to be so far away. But I know we are only a few hours away by plane so if an emergency arises one of us can get back soon.

We promised we will be back in Dec for 2 or 3 weeks so that helped a tiny bit.

Kim met us in North Bend on Tuesday the 19th for breakfast so we could have one last good buy to that new grand baby. She wants to make sure she will know us when we get back so I bet she will be showing her pictures of her papa and grandma every day right KIM?

Greetings to friends and family from the Watland Wonderer's

First Week Of August Happenings

We started out the month on Sunday with a little wine tasting get together at our house with our neighbors Helen and Ray and Loren and Irene. We had great snacks and wine and lots of old tales told by Ray. By the way he is our neighbor that had a stroke last December the day we come back from AZ and he missed our wine tasting that we had after Christmas as he was in Harbor View Hospital.

Then on into the week Monday Jerry was in the recovery mode from his 10 days of working. On Tuesday we had to take his uniforms back to Bellevue so we cruised on up to Redmond to see Kim, Ray and Noelani. She had changed so much. Well I was going to load a picture but the blogger don't want to let me do it not sure why but I don't have the patience to find out. I don't know how Kim, Scott & Teresa have the patience to do this for a living. But I am very thankful that they do this kind of work or us computer dummies would have a very tough time living in this new age of electronics.

Well on with the week I worked on Thursday and on Friday Kim & baby and Teresa come over and spent the afternoon with us so we had another fun day spoiling that little girl.

Jerry & I went to the Olive Garden for dinner as I had a gift card for there and did not feel like cooking plus we had not been out to eat for a long time except for fast food.

Today (Sat) I worked and Jerry went to the Auburn Good Old Days Parade at noon. Tomorrow is the car show so we are taking the street rod down to main street and visit with all the people we run into that we know and look at all the wonderful cars.

Hope this finds all our family and friends having a good summer it seems to be flying by. Bye for now.
