Last Week of January

We are at the end of the first month of 2009. Cardinals are going to the SuperBowl so now Jerry is a Cardinals fan. If the SeaHawks was winning he would still be a Seahawks fan but they had such a bad year he wrote them off.

The previous week was a busy one. The usual activities bowling, water volley ball (for Jerry) and a few trips to the driving range to practice. We didn't get to golf this past week.

We did more juicing of our tangerines and got 7 quarts of juice been giving it to the neighbors as we cannot drink it all. There is still more to pick off the tree.

Friday Saturday and Sunday we worked at the Mesa Market for the couple that has a booth three because they went to Yuma to a craft fair, so that pretty much eats up a week end and a day.

Until next time hope this finds all our friends and family well.

WOW Where does the weeks go!

We had one busy week. Our usual weekly activities plus Jerry went to the Barrett Jackson Car show and auction Tuesday and Wednesday. Barb should have given him her pedometer so he could have calculated the miles he walked but guess the guys had a good time so that is the important thing. Thursday we went to Sun City to celebrate Kevin's birthday. We went to the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium and then out to eat afterwards. Jerry was not sure he could take another day of walking but he did ok.

Here is Jerry and Kevin starting out at the beginning of our journey through the zoo.

Here was a baby Giraffe feeding from her mother.

Here is that same baby Giraffe eating grass I never realized how they have to spread their front legs out so they can reach the ground. Guess they can't bend over like cows and horses do.

Here has been Barb's big challenge and she is very happy that this is the last piece of this puzzle going in. When we got back from WA after the holidays Barb decided she was a bit bored with TV and reruns so at the club house they have puzzles you can take and put together. Well looked like she found the hardest one she could find the "Kentucky Derby" it was a challenge but she got it put together in a week and a half by working on it a couple hours a night. Jerry was interested the first day but that was short lived he become the supervisor checking in from time to time to see how Barb was doing.
Then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday we worked at the Mesa Market for our friends that have a booth there they went to Casa Grande to a street fair.
Tomorrow we start another interesting week.

Harvest Time

Little did we know that we would have to harvest fruit when we retired. As you can see in the pictures we have a healthy tree of Tangelo's. Jerry is picking the ones that Barb can't reach she picks the low hanging fruit. We picked one plastic grocery bag of these and got over a quart of juice and we also have a grapefruit tree on the side of the house and he picked 10 it filled a bag and we got a half gallon of juice. So we been juicing because no way can you eat all of these. We have given some to the neighbors and still have lots to pick. The picture of the fruit on the table is our second picking.

Sorry to rub it in but yesterday and today have been really nice days with sun and temps up to 70. In the morning around 7:15 it is very chilly though Barb's feet and hands get very cold when she is walking. Barb has started walking with Jerry's cousins wife Jill so that is fun. We walk a little over a mile that is all she cares to walk but it gives us time to chat and get to know one another better. When Barb walks by myself she has been walking about 2 miles at a time.

We have been back a week and it has been a busy week. Barb started bowling the winter league started Monday the 4th and then she bowls on Tuesday with the league that she was bowling with before the holidays. Wednesday Jill invited us to go play bingo at Sun Lakes a development about 4 miles from us they have good jackpots. Jerry generally never wants to go but he felt lucky so went along and he won 32.00 dollars and Jill won 22.00 dollars. Barb did not win, the big jackpot was 735.00 but we did not win that one but it sure would have been nice. We had fun and was a cheep night out it only cost between 10 and 20 dollars depending on how many games you want to play.

Thursday Jerry and Barb decided to go golfing at a development next door that we haven't played only 9 holes at so we decided to do 18 holes. Well little did we know that it was Canadian day at this golf course and they got to golf for 20 bucks. We had to pay 22 with a discount coupon didn't see fair but it was very busy I think all of Canada was there. But we met a nice gentleman from WI who they paired up with us and we had a great time.

Friday our next door neighbors from Oregon arrived so been chatting with them over the fence.

Saturday we went to a ND and SD dinner get together but no one there from the towns we lived in.

Today we are having some friends over for dinner and play some cards. That pretty much wraps up the week.

Do hope this finds all our family and friends in WA drying out from the horrible weather you all are having. You make the news both in the paper and tv with all the problems up there in WA.

Back in Arizona

Yes, Ark and Saw was glad to see us back home and really happy they got Christmas presents to open. This year they got new shirts from Steve and Holly. Last year they got skull caps from Steve and Holly which as you will notice in the picture they are wearing Jerry and Barb's skull caps as theirs got left in the motor home. The coach is in storage and it is rainy and a little cold out and Barb was to lazy to drive to the storage to get them.
Yes we are having a Seattle day it has been gray clounds since we got back and today it started to rain about 11 am and it is still raining. Oh well it could be snow like we experienced in WA when we were there.
All was fine when we arrived back in Chandler. Nothing exciting happened while we were gone so we did not miss anything.

2009 A New Year

Not a whole lot has happened since the Christmas posting. New years eve was pretty quiet we went out to get a bite to eat and back home and listened to all the fireworks at midnight.

New Years Day we were invited to Greg and Terry's (our friends in Orting) for brunch. Then Teresa, Scott & Gabby and Kim,Ray & Noelani come to visit us in the afternoon and evening. Do to weather conditions we hardly got to see family and friends while we were in WA for such a short time.

Friday Jan 2 it is snowing here at 7:00 am when will it ever quit that white stuff coming down. It could be worse in Spokane they have tons of snow so guess we should be thankful we live on this side of the mountains.

Happy New Year to all our family and friends. Hope 2009 is a great year for you all.
